| Cycle Carriers & Bike Racks FAQ
How long do cycle carriers take to fit?
Initial assembly and fitment will take approximately 15 - 20
minutes depending on the type of carrier. After that re-assembly
should only take up to 10 minutes.
Can I still open my boot?
It is not recommended that the boot is opened when using a conventional strap mounted cycle carrier. If attempted, excessive strain on the boot hinges, or the risk of the carrier or bikes slipping may cause extensive damage to the vehicle. Roof mounted carriers or tow ball mounted carriers with “drop down” features are recommended to customers who wish to retain access to the boot.
Which one will fit my car?
All of our conventional strap mounted cycle carriers are universal and will fit most cars. Please view our Exception list for suitability. The type of carrier is dependant on the frequency of use and the number of cycles carried. For occasional use the conventional strap mounted cycle carriers are an ideal solution.
For frequent use the EasyGrip roof mounted and tow ball mounted carriers are recommended. A specific vehicle fitting guide is provided with EasyGrip carriers.
Does it matter if I have a spoiler?
Due to the inherent weakness of spoilers it is recommended that all Mont Blanc cycle carriers, including attachment straps, do not rest on, nor have any contact with spoilers. Suitability of the cycle carrier is dependent of the size and position of the spoiler, for most boot mounted spoilers a high mount carrier will easily fit over the spoiler. For estate vehicles with high mounted composite spoilers, a roof mount or tow ball mount carrier would be more suitable.
Will it conceal my lights/ number plate?
Low mount carriers will almost certainly conceal the lights and or the number plate to a certain degree, and it is recommended that a lighting board is used with these products. High mount carriers reduce the need to use a separate lighting board for most vehicles, but if the lights or number plate are concealed in any way, a lighting board will be required.
How many bikes can I fit on my roof?
The number of cycles that can be fitted to the roof of a vehicle is dependant on the width of the vehicle and the maximum roof mounted load permitted by the vehicle manufacturer. Most vehicles have the capacity to carry four cycles providing the manufacturers maximum roof load is not exceeded.
What is the maximum weight a cycle carrier can hold?
All Mont Blanc cycle carriers are rated assuming the average weight of each cycle is 15kg. Therefore a two cycle carrier is rated at 30kg and a three cycle carrier is rated at 45kg.
How can I carry four bikes?
Four bikes may be carried on the roof, or a combination of
a rear mount carrier plus one or two roof mount carriers will
enable 4four bikes to be carried.
